So, how does it really feel to see the democrats suffer a crushing and humiliating defeat at the hands of Donald Trump? How does it feel to see the democrats vanquished, especially at the hands of the man they persecuted and reviled for years?

Trump’s foreign policy in his first terms was “America First.” It will be the same in his second term. To those who hold a grudge because Trump once blurted Egypt should “blow up” the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), I ask them: “Did you know that Trump offered to cut the ribbon at the grand opening of the GERD?” To those who condemn Trump for calling Africa “**t hole countries,” I say, that is fine. Nobody wants to touch ***t. That means Trump will not meddle in the internal affairs of African countries. Trump will not sanction African countries. Trump will not give handouts to African countries. Trump will leave African countries the hell alone. Could Africa be luckier if that actually happened?

To those whose brains have been washed by the fake news liberal media, I say, “Moan, groan and ***ch all you want. At the end of the day, the American people have spoken. Trump is the 47th president of the United States. Deal with it!” The fact of the matter is that Trump did not show much interest in Africa during his first term. In his first term, Trump said the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) will not be renewed in 2025. So, Biden’s expulsion of Ethiopia from AGOA will mean nothing.

Trump made a campaign pledge to implement a universal 10% tariff on all foreign-made goods. That could affect African exporters to the US market. But no country exempt from that tariff. They just have to deal with it. Trump slashed foreign aid by 30 percent during his first administration. He should have slashed it by 90 percent using the remaining 10 percent to support the poorest African countries for a limited time.

The fact is Ethiopians/Africans are not beggars. They need investments, not handouts. They have all the resources they need to become self-sufficient. But they have been addicted to foreign aid by the poverty pimp aid-pushers who have made an industry from the US foreign aid program. Trump’s views on illegal immigration are clear. He said he will implement a mass and expedited deportation program to remove anyone who has entered the US illegally. There are an estimated 200 thousand Africans who have entered the US illegally. They will certainly be in jeopardy.

During his first term, Trump implemented measures that curbed immigration from several African countries, including Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan and Tanzania. Whether such a mass deportation program could be handled practically and overcome legal challenges remains to be seen. In electing Trump, Americans have overwhelming said No! to open borders. In his first term, President Trump launched the “Prosper Africa” initiative which sought to assist US companies who want to invest in Africa. JoeMalas fiddled with the program but without any significant achievements.

First, Trump, like Biden, sees China’s growing economic investments in Africa as a threat to US influence and interest in Africa. Indeed, Prosper Africa was supposed to counter China’s Belt and Road Initiative. It is very likely Trump could engage select African countries for closer partnership and greater interaction and cooperation. The second potentially decisive factor in greater US engagement in Africa could be the fight against terrorism.

Over the past year, Mali and Niger have kicked out US troops helping in the fight against ISIS and Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists. Truth be told, when Obama refused to help Nigeria fight the Boko Haram terrorists, Trump actually provided some help to the Nigerian government.

Trump will likely engage Ethiopia in a counterterrorism partnership to deal with the terrorist threat in the Horn of Africa. I also believe Trump will recognize Somaliland as a sovereign independent country, opening the gates for other countries to offer recognition. The reason is the strategic location of Somaliland. The US does not want to jokey with several other countries for a base in Djibouti.

In the strategically important choke point between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, Somaliland offers a major opportunity for a major military base to engage in counterterrorism activities and control of the Gulf. Third, Trump may want to counter the burgeoning Russian presence in Africa. But given Trump’s position over the Ukraine-Russian war and his friendship with Putin, he may not consider Russian’s presence in Africa a threat.
